Debuted on 24th October 2018, ATEEZ is an 8-member South Korean boy band comprising of Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung and Jongho. As rookies, Ateez were recipients of the Next Generation Award at the 2019 Golden Disc Awards, as well as being named Worldwide Fans' Choice at both the 2019 and 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA).
This week I will analyse San, Mingi, Wooyoung and Jongho!
Choi San
"When you're sad, i'm with you so don't worry about anything. Just lean on me."
Born on 10th July 1999, Choi San is the vocalist of the group. He was born in Namhae in the Southern Gyeongsan Province of South Korea. San has a good pronunciation of English and has learned Japanese.
He loves plushies and has several of them. However, the most famous one of all time will be a plushie named Shiber who San often carries around with him. San’s favourite colour is Purple, and fans love the way he pronounces it. San is warm-hearted and respectful and expects the same from the people around him.
He was named San because his father wanted him to be a comforting hill for some people and for others, an enormous mountain that they can’t dare to challenge. San loves reading mystery and thriller novels. He is extremely flexible when dancing because of which many people believe that he is the main dancer of the group.
Growing up, San’s grandparents spent more time with him than his parents and he has kept his grandparents as his phone’s wallpaper. He loves cats and has once named ‘Byeol’. His secret talent is that he can make an elephant out of a few moles on his clavicle. The first concert that he attended was IKON’s with his mother and older sister and the memory of it remains with him.
Song Mingi

Born on 9th August 1999, Song Mingi is the performer and rapper of the group. He was born in Incheon, South Korea and has an older brother. Mingi says that his personality is almost identical to his father.
Mingi loves to go to the sauna and hot springs and his favourite food is chicken. He acts like the fake maknae (the youngest member of a group) of ATEEZ. A famous catchline of his in all ATEEZ’s songs is “Fix on”. Mingi has a fear of bugs and his members have termed him as the most coward member of the group. He is also good at daydreaming (like all of us).
I admire Mingi’s work, and his passion is portrayed in his raps. He is diligent and caring when it comes to his work or his fans. Mingi has a deep voice when he raps but his demeanour is that of a soft little kid. Mingi and Yunho have been best friends for many years, and they are also the tall duo of the group.
In a reality TV show, when doing the lie detector test, Mingi proved that he was an angel when the detector didn’t buzz. We all know that it’s true so it’s no problem really! Recently, he has been on hiatus for a few months due to some issues, but we all hope he returns healthy and soon, then…
Jung Wooyoung
"I want you to remember that you are very precious and loved. I hope you'll never forget that ATEEZ is beside you!"
Born on 26th November 1999, Jung Wooyoung is the vocalist and performer of the group. He was born in Ilsan in the Gyeonggi Province of South Korea. Wooyoung is a former Big Hit Trainee along with Yeosang who met each other as trainees.
Wooyoung has always wanted to be an idol since he has been performing on school stages and school events. He is also a very big fan of BTS and Park Jimin is his role model. He loves dancing and is named the sexiest member of the group. His dancing skills are very much like Jimin’s from BTS.
Wooyoung is the loudest member of the group; often getting scolded by the staff and the leader of the group for his loud behaviour. Fans have also said that he looks a lot like a welsh corgi, and I don’t see any lie in that.
Wooyoung loves gaming and bullying Seonghwa. He is also shipped with San many times and they are termed as ‘Woosan’. He is also friends with Changbin from Stray kids and Yeonjun from TXT. Wooyoung’s favourite food is meat and honey butter chips. I admire his dance and his vocals. He is sweet and caring, loud and bubble when it comes to his members and fans.
Choi Jongho
“Always be confident and everything will be alright!"
Born on 12th October 2000, Choi Jongho is the main vocalist and maknae of the group. He was born in Seoul, South Korea. Jongho’s role model is Jungkook from BTS and he has wanted to be an idol since he enjoyed singing very much.
Jongho is the strongest member of the group and can break fruits with his bare hands while serenading to ballad songs. He is left-handed and enjoys playing football and working out. Jongho’s favourite artist is Bruno Mars, and his favourite foods are ramen, pizza, and steak. He also had a big appetite and is babied by every member of ATEEZ.
Jongho has a beautiful voice. He wants to perform at the Jamsil Stadium for the group’s 10th-anniversary concert. He is respectful towards his elders and members. Jongho and Mingi share a room in the ATEEZ dorm.
Jongho’s passion for music and dance is seen in his performances on several comeback music shows. They are always a delight to watch. Jongho thinks that watching a movie that makes him cry and laugh is meaningful to him.
